Home Staging – Curb Appeal Sets the Stage

Start on the Outside to Get the Buyers Inside!

Now that summer is in full swing the seller has the advantage of getting the buyer through the door by impressing them from the outside. Staging your home on the outside makes the home more welcoming, well taken care of and even newer.  A lack of curb appeal can break the sale because the person driving by won’t even waste their time stopping to go inside. In real estate the buyer does “judge a book by it’s cover.” So if the exterior of your home is not appealing, invest a small amount and get top dollar back! It’s all about creating an inviting, clean and updated entry inside.

Creating Curb Appeal
Here are some inexpensive but effective ways to make the outside of your home look it’s best…

1. Trim those overgrown bushes or trees. They could be hiding your home and making it look smaller.

2. The front entry should be clean and clutter free. (A welcome mat and a pretty flower pot is all that is needed to create a welcoming look)

3. Consider repainting your front door and trim. (A clean pop of color will show the buyer that the house has been well kept)

4. Update the hardware, light fixtures, house numbers and mailboxes. Give them new life and make sure everything works.

5. Make repairs in cracked stairs, driveways and any woodwork. No buyer gets excited about having to invest their time and money into repairs.

Now carry these suggestions into your back yard. This is where you want the buyer to picture themselves spending time with family and friends. And lastly, trust your stagers because they know what sells in today’s real estate market. After all we all have the same goal in mind… Sell Fast For Top Dollar!
