NAR’s Annual Legislative Meetings, “The Wrap Up”

With yet another volume of the annual NAR Legislative Meetings & Trade Expo in the rear-view mirror, I truly believe that this was the best set of Legislative Meetings yet, and so much was accomplished this past week!

At the root and purpose of being in Washington, D.C. is that of “swarming the Hill” to lobby on our issues and in support of private property rights across this fair country. We had amazing success on the Hill in visiting with our member of the United States Congress to discuss our current talking points.

We commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act of 1968. We’ve done a lot, but there is much more to do! What’s most important is that we are all at the table, having the discussions, and building on the foundations of many partnerships.

We watched our leaders work and execute. How awesome is it that we belong to the country’s largest trade organization. Yet we are different from the those the like in that we are truly self-directed and governed. A member-driven organization! Thanks to all those that have engaged and become involved!

Our institutes, societies, and councils (RRC/CRS, WCR, REBI, etc.) also met to conduct their midyear business!

RPAC is alive and flourishing! We set records for fundraising in 2017, and we are on track to surpass those results by 4th quarter receipts! Amazing results because of amazing dedication to the cause!

We elected the 2019 FVP Charles Oppler, continued the discussion on the NAR (REALTOR®) brand evolution, and we adopted the S.MA.R.T. Initiatives to propel NAR into the future!

At the end of the day! All business aside, one of the best things about these meetings is being able to catch up with old friends, as well as make some new ones!

Hoping to be back on Conference Live from Boston in November of ’18, and back on Legislative Live next May from Washington, D.C.!
